Che gusto ha/What does it taste like:
(ENG) An incessant rain. The drops are bullets spitting towards us in unexpected trajectories. The earth under our feet seems to have turned ninety degrees and the water now appears to refuse to die on the floor, pursuing instead a distant and invisible goal. The sound of the bells is shaking the night. The idea that it might be the last moon of our life, for a moment, makes us shudder, but it vanishes just before becoming a concrete thought.
A moment. A step that, once made, becomes meaningless. Footprints that disappear. The lamplight reflected on the polished stones, bounces back in the air and enters into the droplets that seem to stop in front of us, just for a moment, before getting lost behind our shoulders.
"Something follows me wherever I go", whispers the voice of a woman in the intro of the song. And the feeling is exactly that. "Lillian" is an epic and nocturne march whispered in a landscape that has lost any reference point. A comfortable sense of disorientation that makes us lose ourselves in its fine textures. An elegant and sophisticated work in which the South African musician Markus Wormstorm blends refined electro sounds with piano and horns creating patterns capable of embracing classical music ( Profokiev's "Peter and the Wolf ").
"Not, I But a Friend" from which this beautiful "Lillian" is taken, is a profound and atmospheric album. One of the best releases of 2013.
